There are a lot of things I love about being a Real Estate Agent but easily at the top of the list is the ability to transport my office anywhere. I recently spent the morning exploring a new Midtown spot (rare for me, I thought I knew them all!).
Downbeat Coffee + Tea is a hidden little gem on the second floor of the two story blue house on the north end of 39th St. (above Simply Wonderful Dog Grooming whom I also frequent!). It’s the type of place you have to be looking for to see it.
When you first walk in you are greeted by the friendly owner Emily. I must admit something now. I LOVE coffee shops. I love the vibes, the smells, the chillness, and the music. However, I do not love coffee. I wish I did. Luckily I do love tea, and Emily recommended the perfect iced tea.
The first thing that caught my eye was all the artwork all over the walls. Many different local artists adorned the walls and I spent probably too much time exploring. Hundreds of vinyls are stacked along the walls. This morning the shop was pretty quiet and I spent several hours enjoying the free wifi and fantastic music.
Emily (who is known as Goldie to KC reggae fans) is definitely way cooler than me and was happy to talk when I needed a break. She said that they host live music and events on the weekends and they never charge for the events. I definitely plan on checking it out!
If you need a quiet place to work during the week, or are looking for unique and free entertainment on the weekends I definitely recommend a trip to the north end of 39th St. to Downbeat. I will be adding it to my rotation of “offices!”
